Dear Ms. Lacy,

The mailing about the Extension Program did not list a day for the lectures of "Old Witches, New Healers", and I was looking forward to taking it until the LA Times said it was to be on Friday evenings, which are impossible for me to attend.

Do you think you might be giving the series in the Spring or another evening? Would attending the Sat. morning discussions be of any value without the lectures? Are there any readings you could recommend?

Also, perhaps you have some ideas or suggestions on the following: I would like to undertake a study of witchcraft as a form of rebellion and as a form of social deviance, possibly with a cross-cultural study of how different cultures have handled different kinds of deviance, both the kinds they can deal with and have a niche for, & the kinds that scare them & that they try to eradicate.

I have a BA in Anthro from UCLA in 1970, which took 18 years to get. Things at home are easier now. I don't know whether I want to commit myself to a graduate program, or even where to begin to look for what I want to do, and who would allow me, perhaps even help me, to do it.

If you would care to reply, I would greatly appreciate it.

Yours truly,
Carol Gottfried
