Dear Dr Waugh
Your kind welcome letter with Photo's enclosed received on the 21st thank you very much the Photo's are dandy would like to have had one of yourself & Dr Bennett.
Now I must try & tell you what I know about the Boats you mentioned, the one Mr Broucher writes about is one come prospectors had to Stag Bay last summer now laying up for the winter in Lewi's Bay. Bought at Halifax just about the size of the Amber Jack but only fitted for a fishing boat. A good looking hill & a good engine so they say. I do not think she is worth $600. The first thing you would have to do to make her fairly comfortable for three of four men would be to build a saloon or sleeping quarters over the hold, before doing that you would have to get the material from St Johns then get a carpenter to do the job after the trip is over not likely you could sell her no cabin in her & the forecastle you cannot sit upright in it. So much for her. Now about K Le Drew's offer so far as I can hear he should be all right but I will make enquiry & let you know more about him. Tobias Le Drewś boat I do not know neither do I think Kenneth knows much about her one thing I do know she has been laying up for two seasons out in the weather & God knows what kind of condition either the engine or boat is in to my mind it would be like
