buying a pig in a bag. I will go next week & see some friends of mine who fishes there & let you know all about her. There is one thing sure if you buy a boat in your own country you would be able to have her to your own liking certainly you would have the expense of railing her down to Labrador it should not be any trouble to pick you up at Humbersmouth.
As you say Dr B not likely to be able to come only yourself & son & I certainly would bring your son it would do him good. Now I will give you a plan just came in my mind. Come to Battle Harbor in Mail Boat fish Mary's Harbor for a few days. take a Moter Boat at Battle Harbor. Croucher's would do go about ten miles North I go up Alexis Bay about two or three hours steam camp at Alexis River which has never been fished. plenty large trout there & the people tell me plenty salmon (its a magnificent river) if you did not like it you could come out take the boat going North & fish the Eagle River for a few days or week if you like. you would safe a good bit of money that way & would not have the bother of purchasing a boat you will not likely be able to get rid of. I also think you should be at Battle by the 20th of July.
I am very thankful for your kind offer to take me along & I will be only too glad to accompany you. but the position I hold I will not know for certain until about the last week in May then I can wire or write you. The way things are going with the [[?]]

government one can never tell but at any moment I may have to go & look for employment. We have a commissioner out from England & now sitting taking evidence re the doings of Premier Squires & some of his minister for the past two years. & so far as the Evidence has gone I consider they are the biggest crowd of Legalised Robbers that every handled Govt monies & should get 10 years in the Penitny in this Country a poor man steals something to eat he goes in jail. they the Rulers has stolen thousands of dollars & will likely go scott free. Glad you have met Fred since he has gone to New York I have always had good of account of him one thing I know he is very good to us all. As I told you if you cannot sell the Diary you can return it.
Capt Bob is off again so they say what a shame to be wasting so much money on a thing will never be any use to anybody.
Tell Mrs Waugh that the trip would do her young man all the good in the world. wish Fred had his holidays about that time the two of them would have a good old time but I guess it would be too expensive for my boy. We are getting a bit of winter weather since this month came in about 4 inches of ice in the Ponds & just enough snow down for sleighing. Xmas very dull about here not a much as a drink of whiskey have had only one tot since I left Battle. Will write you again as soon as I hear about the Boat. Regards to Dr B & yourself & family.
Yours truly, Moses Bartlett
