Dear Dr Waugh
Your letter dated Feby 5th came to hand first of last week I did not answer it immediately owing to having seen an advertisement in one of our papers about a boat for sale I have written about her but I have heard she is not much of it & would want a lot of fitting up. my advice is to get a boat up your own way you would have plenty time & have her fitted to your own liking & it would not make a great deal of difference to sail her from say Boston then it would be from Nfld. There is a boat that the Rev Dr Whelan had last year on Labd & died on board of her. I have heard they are going to sell her & I am trying to find out even could she or one be got you would have to dock paint & make other alterations & these the uncertainty of been able to get a man or two to sail her to Battle. I certainly think better for you to get one of your own boats.
Mr Crane boat is a nice looking boat I heard that he wanted $1000 00 for her. I am almost sure one of his crew told me she was old & that her stern was giving out & another thing I think she only has one berth in the saloon & a berth on a locker I do not know where she is laying up this winter I shall make all enquiries I can here & should anything
