Dea Dr Waugh

I expected to hear from you by todays mail but did not suppose you were away from home.

Now about Whelan's Yacht. After waiting sometime owing to our Harbour being full of drift Ice, I went to Bay Roberts yesterday & managed to get on Board of her & there is no doubt in my mind she is just what you require anyhow you cannot do better in this country.

The following is her dimensions

Length on Deck from stern to stern 44 feet. Breadth 9 feet Saloon 11 feet long and 7 feet wide, a berth each side & could accommodate four people, plenty lockers or cupboards to stow away suppliers. Lavatory with water pump for flushing. Electric light fitted. Also telephone to deck, also a corner fitted for small stove. Port holes each side glass light in them A little over 6 feet head room plenty room to stand up also a small table to eat off.

Forecastle has two Berths crews sleeping quarters also place & stove for cooking.

Engine room is abaft of the saloon. She has a 40 Horse Power Engine which drives her 8 miles per hour & the owners claim they never have had any trouble with it for four years running all summer. Also a Motor Pump in Engine room for pumping Yacht & sleeping quarters for the Engineers. I must say here, owing to Dr Whelans death all the crew left her as soon as they got home & left her in a Dirty Condition. She has one mast & fitted with mainsail & five jibs. She is ballasted under the floor with cement
