Dear Dr Waugh
I wrote you from Battle also since I arrived home but do not know whether you received the letters or not. I have received several bundles of papers for which I thank you very much, I notice you have some Grafters in your country, as well as we have in Nfld also hold ups + robberies. I do not think I would like to live in some parts of your States one would want to carry a gun about with him.

We have had a very hard winter so far not much snow but plenty frost, very little doing about here every body laying on there oars. Had a hard Gale of wind last Friday on the West coast between Fort Aux Basque and Rose Blanche several Fishing boats driven off an eighteen lives lost. The worst accident for years.

We have 8 or 10 steamers going to the seal fishery this spring and no doubt they will have plenty ice + have a hard job to get to the White Boats.
Have not seen Kenneth since he got home but had a chat with Bob, according to what he says
