In your letter of the 8th instant in the first paragraph you say, "your assignment to Unalaska". This is, of course, a mistake, as you meant Arctic Alaska.

My personal equipment is practically complete, and I shall send part of it by express the end of this week. I shall send a small lantern for slides, but am sorry that I cannot arrange for a kerosene light, so that It might be useful ashore. It can be used only aboard the ship. I am taking 24 educational slides for the crew and natives. I presume I need not do anything about 35 mm. film, and that I shall find it waiting for me at the base at Seattle. If there is any chance of this not being the case, please let me know, as I should be very miserable trying to do the Public Health Service and Coast Guard credit in the Arctic without it.

Have not received the questionnaire on venereal diseases but perhaps they cannot be found. I should really like to write it up for Doctor Parran.

Please send me all final instructions. I am wondering if I am to see you before I leave.

Very truly yours,
