My dear Dr. Waugh,
In regard to your questionairre the following is submitted:-
 
I don't believe you will have any use for a sword unless you want to get it.  So far as I can find out you don't actually have to have one, but if you want to stand quarters and [[?]] with the rest on board it would be well to have it. I don't imagine Capt. Jones will require you to attend drills. 
The current on the Northland is 110 volts, and if I remember rightly  direct current. [[left margin]]OK [[/left magrin]]
