Alaska Road Commission
Juneau, Alaska

My dear Sirs:-

I am completing plans for a research expedition into the region of Alaska embracing the Kuskokwim River from Bethel to the mouth and the peninsula to the north and west up as far as Hooper Bay including Nelson and Nunivak Islands.

I have been to Washington and obtained all the information in possession of the Coast and Geodetic Survey. Also conferred with Ales Hrdlicks of the Smithsonian Institute; the office of Indian Service and have had a fine letter from Capt. Whitlam of the North Star.

I have a commission in the Reserve of the U.S Public Health Service and have served two summers aboard THE NORTHLAND and studied the natives from St. Michael to StLawrence Island up to Barrow. It is this study that I shall continue in the Kuskokwim region.

Will you be good enough to send me maps and information you may have of this region? In my Arctic study, I found the maps which I obtained at Nome from your Mr. Zimmerman most helpful.

Assuring you of my deep appreciation,

Yours very truly
