We got your rain so the radio said it blew up the coast but it didn't last us long. they had thunder & lightning in a cloud that moved around to the east Monday night. Blanche Hammond came up here & she saw it lighten she has had trouble with Howard Lord her daughters husband that died. she went to his house & accused the girl that works there for trying to make up to him to get him to marry & he happened to be in the next room & so heard what she said & then told her she could get out of the house & stay out. I never could bear her. she is not liked by any one I think it would be a good scheme for to go back to Canada where she came from. she owns money there cant take it out of the state. Virginia the daughter who was far different from her mother, & every one liked her.

I wonder if you have got your winter coal in. I hope so. we were lucky to get ours in this time very early. the strikes are terrible & I hope something can be done before long.

Pete has been working over on his land planting the garden he & Jackie all day Tuesday & he has moved that great big boulder & left a big hole where it stood. I never saw him turn it over & wonder how he did it. that land had the most rocks in it than any place I ever knew. I bet he was sorry he ever owned it. & he said so too. there was stones enouh here on our lot a plenty for the cellar underpinning. hope you get rested from your journey & are having different weather love Ma
& hope you get coal for winter.
