Dear Children,

It was just about time I had a letter from you I thought. I didn't know whether you were mad or what was the matter although I know you are awfully busy all the time but you might scratch off a line or so oftener than you do I should think. It's hotter than Tophet here to-day. Hotter than at any time last summer until the last of August when we had a few warm days. Until then it was cold. I wore a woolen coat every time I went out all last summer and thought of you folks with envy.

Please let me know right away the circumference of the baby's tummy for I've conceived the idea of crocheting a sweater for her. Pale pink yarn rather heavy weight, not as heavy as the one I made for myself do you remember? Would she like me do you think? You ask her and let me know right away. Give me the measure over her clothes, not tight and I'll make it to measure that much I hope I can get it done for 4 mos but I can't promise her for circumstances over which I have no control are preventing my doing any of the things I want to do. I suppose
