[[top margin]] Joel Austin's parents are living near us. They said you were friends. Do you ever see "The New Republic" or "The Nation" or any liberal or radical literature? [[/top margin]]

Dear Sidney,

We received your card and Ralph has sent us your present address so I'll write again tho I haven't received any answer to my last yet. I enclosed it in one to Ralph which I suppose he sent you. When shall we expect you and Doris out here? We are anxious to see you both. - and there must be some plants or bugs or something beside us that would be a good reason for coming. I'm just up from the flu. Thought

misery? No matter what you might do that was discreditable I should still cherish your memory for those kittens you picked up while you were out here. Do you remember. Frances has written you about your friend Scott Lewis so I won't repeat that item. Do write to us once in awhile We'd love to hear from you and Doris. Mr. Smith inquires for you often. He is still studying bees but is also much interested in history and spends all his spare time and much that should'nt be spare at the L.A. library. He has been separated from Mrs Smith for three years or more. Much love to you both & do write. Your aff. aunt Mary
