The next day Jack's mother took us driving all around the country, to see the various bayous, ante-bellum houses, and a bit of wild country overrun with hermit crabs and mosquitoes. We had a long day of this, & watched television & mounted slides in the evening.

The next day was today. We took a long hike (2 miles) in the early afternoon -- what we lack most here is exercise. We saw many run-over armadillos. We have seen a live nutria trotting about in town, from the car. This afternoon some friends of Marguerite's will come over to see our slides.
