prices go up steeply as the year advances towards summer, & I got a good bargain, a floor model. All painting and floor finishing are long since over. I still have to caulk the [[strikethrough]] bath [[/strikethrough]] shower wall tile, but I bought a caulking gun for that and it should go fast. I put my 6-foot aluminum latter at the service of the super, whose own ladder was rickety, to save space, but retain a smaller ladder given me by a kind old Irish gentleman on the floor below. I've made a point of being very friendly & considerate of my [[strikethrough]] 10 [[/strikethrough]] 12 neighbors (13 apartments here) and they all seem quite friendly. The boy upstairs, an architect, lent me a sweater one a.m. when I'd just painted myself out the front door without my coat, & we've visited each other's apartments very briefly & I've told him to complain if my stereo annoys him. I'll get a second-hand stereo from a friend in a few weeks at a real bargain price. He's a highly skilled audio man & has a nice set. then I can play records. Now I only have a teeny transistor radio, a T.V., and a tape recorder, which is generally out on loan to some political friends who want to tape speeches & conferences.

Well, I must get off to work now.

Love
Doris
