3.

I just woke Doris up: she says she will write you tomorrow. I will put her to bed, poor thing, and get to bed myself, and send this out right now so you will have heard something from us. She sends you her love, but she is so tired it would be a shame to wake her up. At least I can get up late. I think (I know) she hasn't had more than four hours' sleep any of the last three nights. She'll be fine tomorrow.

Love,
Jack

P.S. About this house guest - she is wonderful company, which is why she kept us up so late, but very peculiar. I remember the time we visited them, and she just collapsed after dinner and Doris had to do the dishes. And this morning, when I finally crawled out of bed at 9 (Doris had left at 7:30) I had to straighten out the shambles our guest had left the bathroom in. Yet she is a consciensious [[conscientious]] mother, a sensible person (she gave Doris what I think is some sensible advice about her job) and pleasant company. People are rarely altogether good or altogether bad.

What is your zip code up there?
