My Dear Sir
Yours of the 2d instant is to hand contents duly noted.
I have acted as agent for the FB for the County of Davidson for 6 months and have been by the citizens & others asked that I would be paid by the Gov at some time for my services and in fact have expected to receive a reasonable compensation for my services.
at least two thridds of my time has been consumed for the benefit of the Freedmen. I have had 3 diferent places to meet the Freedmen & Farmers to adjudicate difecutes & make contract to wit Lixington at my office Thomasville & [[?]] and have one time rode to Jackson Hill 30 mils to settle some dificulty all of which I have been able to do I think to the satisfaction of each party The fines colected by me are thus
for Larceny  amt of a colod man $4.00
Salt & Batry of white man $5.00
Salt & Batry on white man by negro $10.00
$19.00
These are all the fines that have been by me levied or collected
I have paid out have paid out for transportation for indegents & making arests $14.50
& for the bureal of an old man $6.00
$19.50
