My Dear Sir

I have made (60) Indentures the amt to be paid

The Apprentices in round numbers is $4.9.70. the boys nearly all receive $100. unless diseased the girls in most of cases receive $75 unless diseased or cripled I have made and approved about 85 contracts when They are employed & paid cash The price agreed upon is from $5 to 8 Dollars. Pr month

The contracts for a part of the crop in most cases is upon the same terms formally between landlord & Tenant of White men; The tenant in majority of cases receiving one third of the produce raised by them; I consider them liberal & just & I will not approve aney contract that is not Just on the part of the Freedmen
