in this case personally appeared before me Ned a Freedman the property of the Deft A. L. Russean who after being duly sworn according to Law states upon his oath that Deft Russean told him and all of the plaintiffs family that they will leave if they saw proper but if they chosed they will stay with him the said Russean and that the said Russean told them all including Plantiffs family that if they preferred to stay with him he would do as hereafter cloth and feed them, this conversation taken place in the month of April 1865

In this case Personally appeared before me John Noor one of the acting Justices of the Peace in and for the County and State afsd [[aforesaid]]
Stephen Johnson a citizen of Wilkesboro N.C. to [[many?]] known and [[beloved?]] I certify to be a man of verasity and credibility who after being duly sworn according to Law states that he was present in his own Counting Room in the top [[his house?]] when a conversation ensued between Harris a Freedman and A. L. Russean when the Plaintiff Harris, a Freedman admitted in his presents that the Deft Russean had paid him 60 Bushel of Corn, 50 Bushels of sweet potatoes, [[strikethrough]] 125 Crop [[/strikethrough]] 300 Hills tobacco, and Russean stated that Plft [[Plaintiff]] got 40 Gal Molasses and harris a Freedman said not quite 40 Gals
