State of N.C Dave Co May 4th 1866

We the undersigned do hereby certify that we heard Nancy say several times during last summer and fall that Milton Gaither had agreed to let her and family stay with him untill christmas and board and clothe then for there work and that she seemed to be well pleased that she could stay that way, while other famileys were drove of from there former homes.

I have heard Nancy say several times during the last year, since the surrender, that she, and her family expected to stay with Milton Gaither "till christmas and didn't expect anything, but their [[victuals?]] and clothes.
