Guilford County.

Madison Gilmer, a free man of color, of said county, being duly sworn, maketh oath, that he is well acquainted with both Otis G. Graham and Jane Albright; that he was called upon as a witness for said Jane Albright, in the County Court of Guilford, [[strikethrough]] as a witness [[/strikethrough]] to establish her fitness to take care of the child Fannin in controversy; that the said Jane is a very profane woman, has no property and affiant does not think she could take care of her and board and clothe herself for her day and work labor as a hireling; that the said Peter G. Graham is a sober, industrious man, sticks to his business, makes money and is getting on well; that he has often seen said child, and it was always well dressed, neat, fat and had all &c appearance of being well cared for while at said Graham's; that he thinks the best interest of the child would be maintained by having it with the said Graham.
