Know all men by these present, that we, William J. Mills, and James E. Kerr, of the County of Rowan, and State of North Carolina, are held and bound until Assistant Commissioner of the State of Arkansas, in the Sum of fifteen hundred dollars lawful currency of the United States of America to the payment of which Sum we hereby bind ourselves, our heirs, our executors, Administrators, and assigns firmly by these present, and sealed with our Seals.

The conditions of this obligation is such, that whereas Thomas D. Chunn of the County of Woodruff, and State of Arkansas, having obtained transportation for thirty Seven Freedman from Salisbury North Carolina to Woodruff County, Arkansas,

Now, therefore, if the said Thomas D. Chunn, shall well and truly convey the said Freedman from Salisbury, North Carolina, to Woodruff County Arkansas, and if the said Thomas D. Chunn, shall not Sell or otherwise transfer, the order for transportation or fare, or passage on such an order, and if the said Thomas D. Chunn do actually transport the parties contracted with, to the place named in the contract, death or unavoidable accidents alone.
