Dear Sir,

Capt. A.S. Flagg Sup A. Freedmen's Bureau 1st Dist. has rec'd a formal demand to give up the Court House in Hampton (used as a School House), to the Civil Authorities. He returned answer that the building was under the care of and in use by the Bureau: that several hundred dollars had been expended in fitting it up, and that before giving it up payment or security for the outlay must be given. 

Would it not be to the advantage of the Asso. to send to Capt. Flagg an account of the money expended and through him, insist upon the payment of this money by the Civil Authorities?

In case that building is given up, other buildings must be provided for Schools as it will be necessary to have two or three Schools in Hampton. Capt. Flagg has sig.
