P.S.
Last evening I found our new Supt appointed for Danville & N. Carolina had [[underlined]] "backed out" [[/underlined]] through the opposition of his family & friends who were unwilling he should incur the risks of such a position. Now please to answer me one question. Would the Bureau be likely to appoint a civilian to the post of Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent if he had all the qualifications for it, and could such an one exercise also the functions of Superintendent for us over our school in this district - i.e. could our Supt act as yours also. If so we might perhaps get a man of Character enough to make that position worth his time.
Respectfully,
