Money should be sent, in Bank Checks or Drafts, payable to Joseph B. Collins, Treasurer, 40 Wall Street, New York; and all letters relating to the business of the Association, should be addressed to the appropriate Officers in their official capacity; while private letter should be endorsed "Personal."

The bearer of this Mr N.B. Chase is an old acquaintance & for seven years we were neighbors. He is a well to do farmer in Woreylin Co. Mass, but the state of his health requires him to seek the climate of Va.  Besides he has it in his power to do something towards the reconstruction of society if he likes 

Please give him any facility in your power for getting about

We accept your offer at City Point & have authorized Mr Chase to report the state of buildings & their adaptation to the work - We shall need several building or large accomodations in the same building.  Will you need an orphans[[underlined]] home there?
