The only one I have any fear about is Miss Mary J. Cooke, She is a fair teacher but not in robust health & you must be careful of her. Should she not be in health to teach I would send her home, She says she is quite able to do all that will be required of her. Should you need any blankets for beds we have plenty & can furnish them thru here at Washington-

What books are you using in Richmond? let us know & they will be sent immediately. I think it would be well to have one good male teacher in Richmond & perhaps Rev Wm Barker had better be sent for from Petersburg; we have several other male teachers on the way to their posts

Is their any place in Virginia where you can give us a house, rent free & not occupied by any society? We have the furniture, & if the field is a good one for schools let us have it.-

But perhaps we shall find it quite as economical to occupy fully the interior of the Nottaway Dist rooms
rather scatteringly
Yours
Wm Geo Hawkins

Make my kind regards to the ladies, not forgetting you are family
