Whose is the fault?

All we ask is for said hospital building and house to live in When we, aided by the colored people, who are extremely anxious for church and school to be established, will be of the expense of fitting them up suitable for our use. We have enrolled 185 scholars none of whom work to prevent their coming to school in the morning. All who do work and are desirous to learn to read we hope to have night school for. So our school will not interfere with their working. Will thou pardon us for troubling thee: and tell us what course to pursue.

Very Respectfully
Eunice Congdon
Eleanor Matlack

P.S. The above are our first impressions we are very unwilling to incur the displeasure of
[] Chaplain Hawks or Dr Lincoln. So we speak to you privately. []
