Chaplain Manly,

Dear Sir
Can you not suggest a favorable position for my labor for a few months?
Perhaps I could be of service in the Chimborazo, or elsewhere in R.
The unexpected change of things sets heavily upon me because I cannot feel it merited or needful.
Mr. R. asked me if Chaplain Manly was my friend.
I had supposed so - but I do think he should have dealt differently in this matter according to the "Golden Rule".

I should love to remain here awhil if consistent. I could do much good to the Col'd people and in the home.
