do go are doing well. - most wonderfuly well. Mr. Bachelor is interested in the work, and would do well under ordinary circumstances. This state of things is too bad. Why has he not the sympathy of Cap. Mercer? I only wish I was in his position. I would have a change in the condition of things there, or I would die in the attempt.

I had my idea of Lawrenceville when I was there and all Mr. B. has written me, comprises my first opinion of the place. They are an ignorant rebellious and heathenish people, and they need disciplining. they want "bitting" -

I have sent Mr. B. some mony this morning. - told him to keep up courage and make the best of it that I would write you. &c. &c.

I will send you a report tomorrow of the schools in the Second District.
