Rev. and Dear Brother:
I very much desired to see you before you left Norfolk, and regretted that indisposition prevented you from meeting me according to appointments.
The ground taken here by some who are teaching is not only untenable, but in my judgment perfectly absurd. They say that none but those formerly teaching in Norfolk, have any right to open a free school for the colored people. Let me present a case to show its absurdity - The M.G. Church (North) have purchased a Church here, and have sent on a really talented colored Minister, and it is altogether probable that they may wish to open a public school in this Church.
