during our late war.  I hold an honorable discharge on muster out from the service.  While in the Army and constantly exposed to wet and cold - hard fare in the field and on Raids, I became somewhat chronically affected with Rheumatic and bowell complaints, which occasionally trouble me now, but not so as to unfit me for the service I ask.  I also lost my oldest son in the Service.  He was shot and shortly afterwards died of the wound in May/64 during one of the battles at Spotsylvania C. H., Va while Grant was fighting his way to Richmond.  He was my chief dependance.  I have niether sought nor obtained any remunerations for these losses and all I ask is employment
