I thank you for your letter the 22" this day received. Please say to your friend that I do not now see what more the Bureau can do in relation to D. Watson. Any new arrest of him would now look like picking a quarrel with the Freed. and the Supreme Court.

If I understand the past, Gen. S. arrested D.W., and commenced the trial by a military Com., and not by the process provided for in the Bureau bill. If so, I regard this a mistake. But D. W. must now go debt free, for all that I can see, "till the judgment day."
