Suprndt of Education.

I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your Communication of 22d Inst. and in reply to state, that Col'd Female Teachers would answer fully as well as White, for the Freedmens School at this place. Board can be had for $20.00 per month with Rooms. Previous to engaging the teachers I desire to state that it would be impossible to build a Freedmens School at this place, without receiving Some pecuniary assistance from the Bureau. or Some benevolent Society. I applied for the Sum of One hundred Dollars from the Bureau for the purpose of erecting a school, but no action has yet been taken on my application.
The Freedmen have subscribed some $60.- but without outside assistance they can do nothing
