Petersburg, Va. Dec. 29. 1866.

Mr. Manly; Sir.
I have received a letter from Miss Collins saying that Mr. Kennedy thinks you can secure from the Bureau an appropriation for lathering and plastering the Shaw school house at Pocahontas, Va. She wished me to confer with you on the subject. Please let me know as soon as may be if you can do any thing in that direction.
I am exceedingly sorry that I could not visit Richmond during the Christmas holidays. We gave a party to our school on Christmas night when I contracted a severe cold from which I have suffered very much ever since.
Please say to Miss Martha I hope to be able to answer her letter shortly.
Yours respectfully
M.A. Hill.
