This building was rented under pressing circumstances, it being the only place we could obtain in which to begin the work. And we now feel it to be of the utmost importance, that the construction of a new Building be commenced as soon as possible.
I would further state, that I have assurance from the Cor. Sec. of the Commission, that this School will be specially cared for, and no efforts left undone to make it a success.
The School is also receiving the approbation and respect, of the resident citizens of this place, who now favor the enterprise, and would give it sustainable encouragement, was it not for pecuniary emparrassment. The Colored people will do all in their power to support the School, and at present pay the tuition of their children, promptly and cheerfully; also purchasing the School Books &c. Sent them from the Commission.
