Lupus Californicus to Hon. Edwin Willits Assistant Sec of Agl. Left Alila Jan 19 for San Francisco around there same evening.
Stopped at [[American]] Exchange Hotel. 

Took steamer Acapulco from San Francisco for Manzanillo Jan 15th. Had fine weather all the way down the coast. Went ashore for several hours at Mazatlán with two fellow travelers on a G.W. Mc Cutcheon of Bakersfield Cal. The other a young spaniard.

Mc Cutcheon was going to San Benito. We came into port at Manzanillo about 4 P.M. on the

kind of a hotel in this place until Feb 3 in that interval we got a lot of stuff. 1 fine leopard cat called Mochicuon by the natives, 3 possums, several coons, a number of rats, 4 gray tree squirrels, 6 ground squirrels.
