Last night trapped for first time since rain got 2 dipodomys & small jumpers & I Sigmodon. 
Have out a full bat  dry as usual tonight
The small 5-toed rat found here has burrows principally along dry washes in sandy ground. 
The specimen of Sigmodon taken was from a dry sandy flat but near by was a dry wash & some rather damp banks. 
Saw a male grosbeak This afternoon the first noted here so far. 
Shot yesterday a small bird very much resembling a fly-catcher in actions. In color it is a bright yellow with some darker color on top of head. 
Here also along the dry washes & generally in same location as 5 toed jumper & some some others, a small form of Spermopilus [[Spermophilus]] Spilosoma literally swarms . It is is almost impossible  to distinguish between them by their
