(96) about 5:30. We met the P.A. at the station and got cargadors to carry our outfit to his house about a mile from the station. We found this place to be smaller than Perote with all the stores & houses built along one winding street. It has been foggy and rainy the entire time since we arrived here and I have not accomplished much. Hunters have been bringing in rabbits and gophers. I have caught only a few mice. West of town there is a deep [[?]] having cliffs on it but they seem to be pretty solid and do not furnish (97) much shelter for mice etc. Everything is very damp trees covered with moss. Yesterday Mr. N. & I guided by a moyo [[mollo]] went to a cave in the "Cerro de Volcanillo" about 3 miles East of town. They said there was plenty of bats living in it. We found a crater several hundred feet in depth surrounded by a lava bed. on the outside in the lava bed we found the cave which we explored for 75 yds. or so but found no bats. The cave extends for some distance farther than we went and is said to be open at both ends. It contains
