Dear Sir
Your favor of the 9th inst was received yesterday. I am sorry you are obliged to [[strike]] limit [[/strike]] diminish the amt we need to that stated in your letter - The freedmen all know the amount we need, and firmly believe we shall get what we desire from the Gobernment. With this assurance they have pledged themselves to raise $300.00 so that a large & commodious building might be put up - As you have disappointed us I must try and raise the necessary balance from private northern friends. Our school property has been made perfectly secure to the school Trustees - I have no detailed plan on paper of the proposed house as yet; but I have a verbal statement of the builder as to site
