O. Brown, Apt. Com, Richmond Va., Dear Sir: In answer to your favor of the 3rd int., I beg to inform you that we expect to sustain schools next season at the places which we are occupying now; vis Alexandria, Richmond, Petersburgh, Arlingdon, Christiansburgh, Emmaus P.O., Woodstock, Rippon Hall and Lawrenceville. These will require about forty teachers. We have thirty eight at present - Eleven at Alexandria, including sept. and matron, six in Richmond, thirteen in Petergurgh and Beahontas, two at Arlingdon, two at Lawrenceville, and one each at Woodstock, Christiansburgh, Emmaus P.O., and Rippon Hall. We have promised conditionally to assist a colored teacher, Mrs. Rachel Boyd, at Bristol, and to occupy a building in Floyd Co. if you erect it and our needs suffice.
