Bureau of R.F.& A.L.
Hd. Qts. Asst. Sub-Asst. Comr.
Franklin Co. Va.
June 11th 1867.

Respectfully forwarded, through call RS Lacey agent in charge of 7th, Sub Dist Va to Bvt. Brig Genl. O. Brown, Asst. Comr. St of Va. With the recommendation that if possible, the Books required may be furnished. Both Mr Lavinder - Superintendent - and Mr Reynolds - Conductor are known to me as liberal and responsible parties, and it has been through my instignation, and by my offering to endeavor to procure the requisite Books, that they have been led to organize. This, at least will be a commencement; and they are willing to make suitable reports of their progress to this Office

I am in hopes to be able shortly to also start a similar School at this place
- Rocky Mount -
providing the requisite Books can be similarly obtained
