Dear Sir,
Yours of June 24th is received making inquiries in respect to School building needed at this place & recommended by Gen. Armstrong & Capt Massey, both officers having visited this place, & ascertained our wants. 

1st. Included is a statement of size of building needed & dimension of lumber that will be required. It is believed that one of the hospital building at Hampton as suggested by Gen Armstrong, would furnish all that is needed. Any deficiency would be made up by the proprietors. 

2'd. Transportation & labor - The lumber can be freighted from Hampton to this place at $2. per thousand feet. Labor, one good carpenter employed 6 weeks or two months with perhaps an assistant - with the assistance of colored help would complete the building. Most of the work can be obtained here from the colored people who are quite willing to do all in there power to put up a good building.

3rd. There are alredy over one hundred children & adults to be accommodated & then an constant
