Dear Sir

I am sorry to have to trouble you about my school again, but write to [[?]] if you will not be so kind as to make enquiry for me, [[?]] I have not been been paid the rent promised me for my School room, as I have up to this date only been paid rent for it, for the month of April, and have not heard from Col'nl Jordan about it since, although I forwarded to him all the necessary vouchers for the months of May and June, and also asked him to send me some Blank School reports, as I had none myself; to make my reports on. I have at this time a large school, 19 scholars, all of whom are progressing very well and are rapidly in thier Studie's; I have 8 large [[?]] girls, all of whom are reading quite fluently now and learning to write also, and the remaining number 11 smaller Boys and Girls, either spelling, or in their alphabet, but all are spelling now, I think but 3 who are learning their alphabet. I only charge them now a dollar a month, and find it very difficult to get some of them to pay even that small sum, and I have up to this time found my school very little remunerative, as the colored people generally are very poor and some of them plead inability to pay even the dollar per month, I charge, so that I have 5 scholars that I make no charge for at all. The Episcopal Church promise me a Salary now of 200 Dollars, and I am
