Dear Sir

I have the honor to acknowledge the the recpt of your favor of the 14th inst. informing me of your having sent to me a lot of Spelling Books Primers & Charts, which arrived safely this a.m. and for which I am greatly obliged - In the matter of the appropriations for School Houses &c asked for, I beg leave respectfully that it is in my judgement strange that appropriations have been made in almost every District in the state but my own. The fact is Known to the freedmen here and they, like me not only think strangely of it but it gives rise to conjecturer, which places me in any but a desirable position. I trust however to hear from you favorably upon this subject within a few days.
