New York, Oct. 1st. 1867
Miss M.S. Rowell,
Afton, Nelson Co. Va.,

Dear madam: Your favor of the 28th ultius is at hand, but that of the 21st has never reached me. You can report as soon as you please to Mr. Maudy, who has been requested to find another place for you. We have not reappointed you yet but if a school can be found for you in which you can collect enough to pay your board, or any opening which if is very desirable to fill, we will send for a new commission. The carte for Younkers is full, but we hope that more will be raised there than our friends expect and are willing, under the circumstances, to take you on faith.

                With kindest regards,
Yours truly
Crammond Kennedy
Cor. Sec.
