My Dear Mr Manley-
I laid your letter concerning a Normal School at Riffon Hall before the NY Branch very soon after its arrival.  By then it was referred to a special committee to consider + report + on their report it was referred back to me for further correspondence + information.  The converence this secured elicited some inquiries which I was not able to answer, + some objective which I was not able to [?] while at the same time it elicited an expression of a strong interest in the general place, + a desire to co-operate with the government if the details [[crossed out]] can [[/crossed out]] can be [[crossed out]] arr [[/crossed out]]arranged.

One questions which has been raised relates to the location.  What are the special advantages about Riffon Hall? What is the price of the land offered?  What is the character of the land?  Is it
