Mr. Manly,

Dear Sir,
A pressure of business has prevented me replying earlier to yours of Nov. 11. We asked about places where the freedmen would pay the teachers' board, because we are sometimes able to send on those conditions. We have none at present to send, but shall be very glad to have from you the names of one or two such places, when you have ascertained them; so that, in case we should have an opportunity, we can send some one. We very rarely have colored teachers suitable to send. We have none at present.

With thanks for your kindness,
Very truly yrs.
