depend for their board on the school tax - would this be practicable in Richmond? judging from what you have already done, I have little doubt of it, even though we should of course still expect to have all the school expenses paid from the tax.

I wish you would give me a full answer to this, including a distinct account of your method of procuring the money from the schools; you have been so successful that your experience would be very useful to us in advising those who shrink from the task & the fact that you really think it helps the schools would be of great value.

I hope your hand, which Miss Parsons wrote me you had burned severely, is nearly well. Please thank her for her letter. I should be glad of an early answer.
