of the smallness of the school they are not able to buy books.
Those on whom this burden of expense rests are little able to bear it yet they are ambitious and preserving and say they are determined to have a school if it takes everything they make.
They have never had a school in this neighborhood until last mo. - they waited patiently hoping some help for them should come but they have never had any assistance from any source.  I made several attempts directly after the summer in their behalf but each time proved fruitless as it has so far from the Rail Road of any regularly laid office District.
I feel great interest in them I therefore as their friend recommend them to [[?]] hoping my feeble efforts may meet with a favorable response - I will [[?]] give a little act of my own [[?]]
