King Wm. County, Va
June 15th 1868

Dear Sir-

At last my school buildings aproach [[approach]] completion. I have written to my town an appeal for the support of two teachers - which will be successful I think it best to start & run the schools immediately having a vacation about Christmas. The Children are through with the more important spring work & can be spared. The little enthusiasm among the freedmen can be nursed in no other way so well as by starting the schools. Knowing that my home people will raise the salary for these teachers, if you will send me one of them the first or fifth of July I will see her paid. untill [[until] their money comes - At [[?]] Church the Freedmen have been given a piece of land by the sheriff of the County & have a building 32 by 22 partially completed. It wants $30 tops [[?]] more to complete it making three of the five school Houses & Churches needed in the County. I am going to ask officially for the amt needed
