Dr. Sir:

I desire some information in regard to schools in Virginia. 

Provided I could command sufficient support from this point and vicinity to pay teachers salaries in a school having for its more direct object the preparation of native colored youth for teachers of their race, what encouragement could we have from the Freedmens Bureau in the way of securing buildings, fixtures, etc?

For three years past I have had charge of schools at Florence Ala, and have been supported by a Commission having its head-quarters in this city; but, having found that the climate of Alabama did not agree with me, it is likely that we shall send some one else to that point, in the fall. 

What of of Richmond, or Lynchburg? i.e. how are the freedmen off for Schools at those points?

I am a colored man, and was educated at Oberlin College.  Can give you satisfactory references.  If you know of an opening I wish you to
